Also the same with Waves Sheps 73.I respect your opinion and you're certainly entitled to it but from my own testing there is/was no difference. I've had similar experience with IK multimedia 1176 and La2a plugs too. But as it was not in a sale I held off on it and the PA version, but later bought the UAD version in a sale.
So I did and yep indeed it sounded just a a bit better a creamier sound and more pleasing to the ear. I tried the Plugin Alliance Magg EQ and loved it, and was about to pull the trigger in one of their sales, but as I'm a UAD fanboy, I thought let me just demo the UAD version first, because if I like it more I'll be kicking myself. I would have to disagree with this, at least in some examples. However sometimes devil can be hidden in details, although this can be easily tested by nulling with trial versions for example. And I would say, this applies for most ported stuff. if the vendor say, it's the same algo, there is probably no reason to not believe him. typically OS makes sound less upfront and more smooth in transients. And it can be of course also audible with some material.
Of course that oversampling can be also found by examination of plugin impulse response, measured frequency response near Nyquist freqecncy and plugin latency.
44.1/48k), when it was switched to 2fs rates, this oversampling was turned off and both plugins completely nulled. I can't recall exactly, what 3rd party UAD plugin it was from some old discussion, but its oversampling was active only when working with base sample rates (eg. It doesn't apply generally, IIRC there were some plugins, which were oversampled at UAD platform, but not native.
